Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill has joined Brighton & Hove Albion on loan, as Marc Cucurella makes a permanent transfer to Chelsea from Brighton.
Colwill spent last season on loan with Huddersfield Town in the Championship, playing 32 games in all competitions and helping them to reach the play-off final, where they lost out to Nottingham Forest.
The 19-year-old is highly rated at the club, and has been at Chelsea for 10 years, having joined the Blues’ Academy at Under-9s level.
Brighton wanted Colwill on a permanent transfer, but Chelsea opted for a loan deal.
Brighton boss Graham Potter was pleased with the deal to sign up the young talent.
Speaking to Brighton’s official website on the arrival of Colwill, Potter said, “Levi has enormous potential and has already shown his ability last season in the Championship and with England at various age group levels up to Under-21s.
“I am really looking forward to working with him on the training pitch, and in matches over the course of the season.
“He plays mostly at centre-back, but has also played on the left as a full-back, and he is a player who is comfortable on the ball.”
