Chelsea have hijacked Manchester City’s deal to sign up Marc Cucurella from Brighton.
The Blues have agreed personal terms with Cucurella over a deal, and submitted a £50m bid to sign up the Spaniard.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that it’s now a done deal.
Romano wrote: “Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, here we go! Full agreement in place between Chelsea and Brighton for more than £50m. Levi Colwill on the verge of joining Brighton soon. #CFC
“Personal terms already agreed, no way for Man City. Cucurella will become Chelsea new signing, done.”
The 24-year-old Spanish defender impressed in his debut campaign in the Premier League last season, which attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
Cucurella won Brighton’s Best Player of the Season award last term, and deservedly so.
According to WhoScored, Cucurella created 40 chances from open play, more than any Chelsea player apart from Reece James. The Blues right wing-back created 42 chances.
Meanwhile, the deal would also see Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill move the other way.
