Chelsea seem to be going for Manchester City target Marc Cucurella.

According to latest reports, Chelsea are closing in on Brighton & Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella, who has been the subject of interest from Manchester City throughout the summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently without a recognised left-back in their first-team squad,  following the sale of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal.

Man City have made Cucurella a primary target, but aren’t ready to meet Brighton’s asking price of around £50m. City have only been willing to offer £35m so far, and a deal seems to be a long way off.

The 24-year-old Spanish defender impressed in his debut campaign in the Premier League last season, and seems to be heading to Stamford Bridge.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea are close to sealing a deal for Cucurella, and it may involve Blues youngster Levi Colwill.

Romano revealed via a tweet: “Chelsea are confident on reaching an agreement with Marc Cucurella, not expected to be an issue. Contract proposal’s being prepared. #CFC

“Negotiations ongoing with Brighton. Price tag: £50m. Chelsea want to be fast – including Levi Colwill as part of the conversations.”

Chelsea have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling this summer.
