Kalidou Koulibaly joined Chelsea in a four-year deal from Napoli, and the Senegal international has already left a good impression on Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.
Koulibaly impressed in his cameo appearance against Arsenal, and Tuchel sang his praises after that game – in what was a very disappointing display by the Chelsea team.
The Senegalese captain played the entire 90 minutes against Udinese, and was particularly impressive.
Chelsea fans at the game were already singing a song for the summer signing, and Tuchel was delighted about it, as he expects big things from the new centre-back.
“He deserves [it],” said Tuchel.
“He’s a very, very good signing, a strong personality, a strong player. I’m happy he could play 70 minutes he’s getting fitter and fitter which is very important for us at the start of the season.”
Jorginho was one of those who influenced Koulibaly’s decision to join Chelsea, and the Chelsea midfielder has been very vocal about the signing of Koulibaly.
“I think Koulibaly represents a very, very positive signing for the club,” Jorginho told Sky Italia.
“He is not just a great player, we all know that, and he will help not only on the pitch, but also in the locker room. He is a really wonderful guy.
“I did send him a few messages and some phone calls, telling him come on, what are you waiting for? We’ve got to play together again and we haven’t got much time left!
“I really hoped the move would go through and I am very happy that it did.”
Koulibaly did very well and we’re much happy to have him in the club, Blue forever.
