Bayern Munich Canadian defender Alphonso Davies has admitted that Chelsea are his favourite club in the Premier League.
Davies burst into the scene as an explosive teenager before he joined Bayern Munich in January 2019 from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps FC on a contract lasting until 2023 for a then-MLS record transfer fee.
He was named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season for 2019–20. In that season he also was part of the team that won the Bundesliga, the UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.
In an interview with ESPN, Davies revealed his admiration for Chelsea.
“If you had to support a team in the UK, who would it be?“ the interviewer asked.
And Davies responded: “I mean I grew up watching Chelsea, so Chelsea.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted there’s a need to strengthen the Chelsea squad ahead of next season.
He said: “My analysing of the season does not change because of this game. Unfortunately, it proved my point.
“The last week proves my point. I would absolutely prefer not to be right. I did everything to prove myself wrong but at the moment I feel that I was right.
“I look at the last season and parts of the game where we struggled, parts of the season where we struggled, and then we got sanctioned and players left us and some players are trying to leave us, and this is where it is.
“So we had an urgent appeal for quality players, a huge amount of quality players. We got two quality players but we are not competitive like this. Unfortunately you could see it today.”
I’m not impressed the way we’re going about this transfer window. We not been active and push full. If urgent and proactive measures are not taken before the end of the transfer, Chelsea will be struggling to avoid relegation. Please let’s go for a prolific striker.
There was no need for the acquisition of Raheem Sterling .
