According to reports, Chelsea are trying to do everything possible to make sure Romelu Lukaku doesn’t return to the club.
Inter Milan paid around £7million to sign Lukaku on loan for the 2022/23 season.
According to the Telegraph, a proposal has been put forward to potentially replicate the deal in 2023/24.
Inter may not be able to afford Lukaku’s transfer fee, so a deal has been set in place to ease up a transfer, if Inter are happy with the Belgian’s performance in the coming campaign.
If it goes according to plan, Inter will sign Lukaku on a second year loan deal, and at the end of that season, both clubs hope Inter would be able to afford a permanent deal for Lukaku by 2024.
By 2024, Lukaku will have just two years remaining on his contract with the Blues, and a transfer may be easy to agree at that time.
For Chelsea, it will be a way of saving Lukaku’s £325,000-a-week wages and netting the £7million loan fee for two seasons in a row.
