Last season was quite turbulent for Chelsea, as the Blues had to go through a sanction, periods of uncertainty and a change in ownership.

Thomas Tuchel managed to keep the team afloat during those difficult times, and he now has another difficult job of guiding Chelsea through the start of a new era.

Chelsea reporter Garry Hayes has admitted the club doesn’t have the right to win the league next season following all that’s happened with the club.

He said in a tweet: “Chelsea were sanctioned for three months last season.

“The club has new owners with inherited problems.

“Manager has a squad full of players from three previous regimes.

“And people out here thinking CFC have a divine right to be title favourites.

“The club is where it is.”

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Tuchel is the right man for the Chelsea job and doesn’t think he’d be sacked, as he also believes the team has done well under the German, despite the problems of last season.

Asked whether Chelsea could have a new manager by Christmas, Keane told Sky Bet: “No, I don’t think so. There has obviously been loads of uncertainty over the club the last few months, that has been sorted out now obviously with the new ownership coming in.

“I’m pretty sure again he will be able to bring some players in. He is a top quality manager, he has dealt with a lot of issues over the last few months.

“Ultimately it was a disappointing end to the season for them. But he is a top quality manager and I think the owners will back him. I’d be amazed if he is not there at Christmas.”
