Chelsea were left stunned at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, as Arsenal put four past Chelsea.

It was an uninspiring performance from Thomas Tuchel’s men, and it showed a difference in preparedness for the new season.

Tuchel doesn’t think the team’s problem was structure, but rather the mentality of his players.

Despite the 4-0 drubbing, Tuchel revealed he’d rather be honest with his players than have a go at them.

Tuchel said: “I saw a team in Arsenal who are mentally committed to a level of exhaustion that we could not match physically and mentally because we have a lot of players who are thinking about leaving and looking at their options.

“I think it was not a structure problem. It was behaviour in the structure. That’s much more important. We need to be more lively and aggressive. The level of commitment was simply not enough.

“It’s not a moment to destroy my group because they are very nice and hard working but for today this is the honest analysis of the game. It’s not worth talking around this.”

After the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal, Thomas Tuchel was asked about Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal.

Tuchel responded: “Listen, it’s the same players, so why should anything change?

“We will see hopefully development but at the moment, we have the same issues because we have the same players.”
