Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was left in shock as he saw his side lose 4-0 to Arsenal on Sunday morning.

It was a very poor Chelsea display, as the Gunners ran Chelsea ragged.

The Chelsea team looked lacking in fitness and desire against Arsenal, and the intensity of the team was very poor.

Thomas Tuchel admitted he hasn’t lost a game with such a margin in pre-season, as well as not winning two pre-season games in a row.

He said: “I don’t know if I ever lost a match in pre-season 4-0. I can’t remember not winning two matches in a row in pre-season.

“I am superstitious but not in a way that I say bad pre-season has to mean a bad season. That makes no sense to me. I am in it, a part of it, and need to find solutions.”

Chelsea’s poor form didn’t just start now, but towards the end of last season, and Thomas Tuchel has warned that the Chelsea team needs improvement in the summer transfer window.

He said: “My analysing of the season does not change because of this game. Unfortunately, it proved my point.

“The last week proves my point. I would absolutely prefer not to be right. I did everything to prove myself wrong but at the moment I feel that I was right.

“I look at the last season and parts of the game where we struggled, parts of the season where we struggled, and then we got sanctioned and players left us and some players are trying to leave us, and this is where it is.

“So we had an urgent appeal for quality players, a huge amount of quality players. We got two quality players but we are not competitive like this. Unfortunately you could see it today.”
