Chelsea have signed up Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, but the Blues aren’t done in the summer transfer market.
With Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger having left the club, Chelsea need to sign a replacement for the duo. There are also reports that Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta may also leave this summer.
Thomas Tuchel has identified Sevilla defender Jules Kounde as a good signing to be made.
Chelsea are believed to be leading the race for Kounde, and have even agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old in the past. However, Barcelona are also in the race for his signing.
Kounde has a release clause of £65m, and Sevilla reportedly want offers of over £51m, and are hopeful Chelsea and Barcelona will be involved in a bidding war.
According to a report by CBS Sports, Jules Kounde is excited at the prospect of teaming up with Kalidou Koulibaly at Chelsea.
Koulibaly has established himself as one of the most best defenders in Italy over the past decade and CBS say Kounde is keen to get the opportunity to learn from him.
Koulibaly is seen as a veteran centre back, and even Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is pleased with his signing.
“I’m very happy with him signing and joining our team,” Chelsea manager Tuchel said of Koulibaly after his signing was confirmed.
“He’s now the second signing of the summer and again we have a strong player, a strong personality with big experience. From our point of view, he’s a perfect addition to the group.”
