Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has warned Liverpool that the club could regret the sale of Sadio Mane.
Mane departed Liverpool this summer to join Bayern Munich in a £35m deal.
Mendy, who’s an international teammate to Mane in the Senegal national team, has warned Liverpool that they could experience a drop in performance next season without Sadio Mane.
Asked about Mane’s move away from Liverpool, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy said: “I think it is a big loss for the Premier League in terms of quality and in terms of the person.
“We’ve lost someone great and I hope for him he will enjoy the Bundesliga.
“He’s also a big loss [to Liverpool] because of his quality, the impact he makes and also because, for the young players, he’s an example. When you lose someone like this it can have a huge impact.”
Chelsea have in turn strengthened the team by signing Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
Koulibaly’s Senegal team-mate Edouard Mendy also admitted his pleasure with the new signing.
“I’ve known Kalidou for a while now,” goalkeeper Mendy said.
“He was the first one who welcomed me in the national team so we were in the same room at first, when I first met him, when I got my first call-up, so the feeling was amazing.
“If you talk about his qualities on the pitch, I think I will let the people and the Chelsea fans see this player and I hope they will enjoy watching him.
“He’s a top player, as everybody knows, but he is a top person and that’s why in the dressing room he’s a very good addition.
“He is a guy who likes the responsibility but also he can joke with everyone, so we need this kind of person. And I think everybody’s going to be happy with him and what they see.
“Every year we had this – the link with Chelsea and Kalidou in the media – and this year it happens so I am happy!”
