Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly has completed his move to Chelsea, the club confirmed in the early hours of Saturday.
Kalidou Koulibaly is the second player to join Chelsea this summer. The defender arrives from Napoli and has signed a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Koulibaly, captain of the Senegal national team, is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in world football, and Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he’s a perfect addition to the team.
Tuchel said from the USA: “I’m very happy with him signing and joining our team.
“He’s now the second signing of the summer and again we have a strong player, a strong personality with big experience. From our point of view, he’s a perfect addition to the group.”
After sealing a deal believed to be worth £33.8m, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly spoke highly of the transfer.
He said: “Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the world’s elite defenders and we are delighted to be welcoming him to Chelsea.
“A great leader and an exemplary team player, Kalidou brings a wealth of experience and attributes that will benefit our squad and the club as a whole.’
