Chelsea have been linked with a summer transfer move for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Manchester United legend is keen on playing Champions League football next season, which has prompted his desire to leave Old Trafford.
Asked about a move for Ronaldo, Thomas Tuchel told Sky Sports: “I would not rule out signing another striker, but it’s not our priority.
“The priority right now is our defence, it’s not a secret.”
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tuchel isn’t in support of a move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Romano claims: “Thomas Tuchel has decided against Cristiano Ronaldo signing, as things stand. Jorge Mendes had talks with Todd Boehly but final decision has always been up to the manager. #CFC
“Chelsea are now focused on different deals – Tuchel isn’t keen on signing Cristiano.”
Former Chelsea defender William Gallas believes that either of the experienced duo of Cristiano Ronaldo or Robert Lewandowski can do well at Chelsea.
Gallas however says that Ronaldo may have to get used to sitting on the bench at Chelsea, if he does make a move to Stamford Bridge.
“It can be Ronaldo, it can be Lewandowski. Lewandowski wants to go to Barcelona, but for me, Lewandowski would be great if he signed for Chelsea,” Gallas told Metro.co.uk for Genting Casino.
“But, to replace Lukaku with Ronaldo they have to speak, have a meeting and see what Ronaldo is expecting.
“We know he is 37 years old, he doesn’t play like before but he’s still very intelligent in the box and can score goals.
“They will use him but because there are so many games, if he comes to Chelsea he has to accept that sometimes he will be on the bench.
“He’s not young anymore, so that’s why they need to have a good meeting first.”
