Chelsea have signed up Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

According to confirmed reports, the Senegal international has completed his medical in London, and has signed a four-year deal with the club.

Koulibaly is now set to join up with the rest of the Chelsea team for pre-season in Los Angeles.

Italian newspaper based in Naples Il Mattino has reported that club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is a big fan of the 20-year-old Chelsea striker Armando Broja and tried to get him involved in the Koulibaly deal.

Chelsea ended up signing Koulibaly without bargaining a deal alongside Broja, and the Serie A side are still interested in Broja and are keen on a loan deal for the upcoming season.

Broja impressed on loan at Southampton last season and has also attracted interest from Everton and West Ham, with Southampton and Newcastle also said to be monitoring his situation.

Reports claim the 20-year-old striker is pushing for an exit, as he isn’t sure of his future at Stamford Bridge.

Former Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson has told Chelsea that it’s time to give Armando Broja a chance, rather than going for another big money signing.

Glen Johnson said: “I think Chelsea are going to be reluctant to spend scary money again considering what happened with the Romelu Lukaku signing.

“If it was up to me, then I’d give Armando Broja a chance rather than spending £80 million on a replacement.

“I’d rather get it wrong with a player that I’ve already got, rather than get it wrong by spending £80 million.

“Broja is technically good in front of goal, but I don’t know how good he is yet. He did score some fantastic goals for Southampton but, let’s face it, Southampton aren’t Chelsea.

“He’s going to get more goal scoring opportunities at Chelsea and he’s technically good enough to score more next season.”
