After many years of trying to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, the Senegal international is finally close to being a Chelsea player.
Confirmed reports now have it that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Napoli, and the Blues have also agreed personal terms with Koulibaly.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave a report confirming the deal: “Chelsea are now closing on Kalidou Koulibaly deal! Full agreement on personal terms for €10m net per season, contract until June 2027. #CFC
“Negotiation set to be completed in the coming days: Chelsea working to close the deal for €38m plus add ons as final proposal.”
Kalidou Koulibaly has also confirmed that his transfer to Chelsea “is on the right track” when asked about a move to Stamford Bridge.
Koulibaly was due to report for Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Dimaro on Tuesday evening, but there are now reports that talks over his move to Chelsea are moving at a fast pace that he may not show up at all for Napoli’s pre-season.
Asked about the Chelsea talks by French reporter Romain Collet-Gaudin, Koulibaly said: “I can confirm later, but it is on the right track.”
Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti, has revealed that he’d wish Koulibaly well if he moves to Chelsea.
“I prefer Koulibaly to be with us always, especially as he would be captain this season,” said coach Spalletti during this evening’s Q&A with the fans.
“If he chooses to leave, we will never stop thanking him for all the help he has given us. If he wants to choose something else, we wish him all the best, because he deserves it.
“And woe betide anyone who says otherwise to him.”
