Chelsea’s move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly seems to be moving at a fast pace.
Reports now claim that the Blues have made progress in the race to sign up Kalidou Koulibaly from Italian Serie A side Napoli.
According to Sky Italia, an offer from Chelsea for the 31-year-old Senegal international is imminent.
Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti has reacted to news of Koulibaly making a move to Chelsea.
Koulibaly has been a Napoli player for 8 years, and has gone on to be a legendary figure at the club.
Spalletti has however revealed that they’d wish the Senegal international well if he does make a move to Stamford Bridge.
“I prefer Koulibaly to be with us always, especially as he would be captain this season,” said coach Spalletti during this evening’s Q&A with the fans.
“If he chooses to leave, we will never stop thanking him for all the help he has given us. If he wants to choose something else, we wish him all the best, because he deserves it.
“And woe betide anyone who says otherwise to him.”
Koulibaly was due to report for Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Dimaro on Tuesday evening, but there are now reports that talks over his move to Chelsea are moving at a fast pace that he may not show up at all for Napoli’s pre-season.
Asked about the Chelsea talks by French reporter Romain Collet-Gaudin, Koulibaly said: “I can confirm later, but it is on the right track.”
