Chelsea have been linked with a number of defenders as the club seek to sign replacements for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Nathan Ake, Matthijs de Ligt, Jules Kounde and Kalidou Koulibaly are some of the names to have been linked with a move to Chelsea.
Reports now claim that the Blues have made progress in the race to sign up Kalidou Koulibaly from Italian Serie A side Napoli.
According to Sky Italia, an offer from Chelsea for the 31-year-old Senegal international is imminent.
The Napoli centre-back has now confirmed his €40m transfer to Chelsea “is on the right track” when asked about a move to Stamford Bridge.
Koulibaly was due to report for Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Dimaro on Tuesday evening, but there are now reports that talks over his move to Chelsea are moving at a fast pace that he may not show up at all for Napoli’s pre-season.
Asked about the Chelsea talks by French reporter Romain Collet-Gaudin, Koulibaly said: “I can confirm later, but it is on the right track.”
Ornstein added: “Discussions are taking place over a possible deal that could see the 31-year-old move to Stamford Bridge on a long-term contract for a proposed €40 million fee.
“Negotiations are ongoing but an agreement between the clubs and the Senegal captain is thought to be close.”
I only hope that Chelsea won’t miss on signing Koulibaly as well.
