Chelsea’s links with Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina seems to have slowed down in recent weeks.

But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that an agreement has been reached between Chelsea and Chicago Fire for the young goalkeeper.

Romano wrote on social media: “Chelsea have reached verbal agreement with Chicago Fire for Gabriel Slonina, after direct talks between Todd Boehly and MLS club. 10m deal plus add-ons, he’d stay at Chicago on loan. ??? #CFC

“Chelsea are expected to submit official bid this week in order to get the deal done.”

Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that deal would be worth around $10 million plus additional add on fees.

Chelsea hijacked the deal from Real Madrid who at one time were leading the race for the young American goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper was born in 2004 and holds the record as the youngest goalkeeper in history to play in the MLS.

Slonina has made 15 MLS appearances to his name with 7 clean sheets. Which is very impressive from the young man.

After his signing, Chelsea would loan back Slonina to Chicago Fire for the rest of the season.

The 18-year-old is being primed as one for the near future and is very highly-rated.
