Chelsea have been linked with a move for Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, and a deal is expected to be wrapped up soon.
The 27-year-old England international has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, and Chelsea are set to agree a fee of around £40m for Sterling.
Chelsea have been scarcely linked with a move for PSG star Neymar, but former Manchester City striker Trevor Sinclair believes Raheem Sterling would have a better impact than Neymar.
He told talkSPORT: “If you look at his (Sterling) history, the pattern he’s had in his career, he is just getting better and better.
“There’s no doubt in my mind he’s a world-class player. If you had the chance of signing Neymar or Sterling, who would you have? As a manager and a coach, you want consistency week in and week out.”
Further highlighting the difference between the stars, Sinclair added:
“When he’s (Sterling) having a bad game, he’ll still be a seven out of 10 because he works for the team, he has a fantastic work ethic.
“Whereas Neymar, if he’s not playing and if he’s not doing well going forward, he might as well not be on the pitch. That’s the difference between the two players.”
Former Premier League defender and brother of Rio Ferdinand, Anton, has revealed his surprise that Man City are going to sell Sterling to Chelsea.
“Me personally, if I’m Man City, I’m keeping him,” the former QPR man told Sky Sports.
“I would try everything I can to tie him down to a new contract. He’s a fantastic player, he’s also a consistent performer and someone who has done it over the years in the Premier League.
“So, for Man City to be wanting to or happy to get rid of him, that shocks me.
“But as we know, they’ve got an abundance of depth in them areas of the pitch. If he goes, then they’ve got someone of great quality to come in and take his place.”
