Manchester United new boss Erik ten Hag had made the signing of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong a priority.

However, Chelsea are looking to hijack Frenkie de Jong’s move to Manchester United.

According to Spanish transfer expert Gerard Romero, Chelsea have submitted an irresistible bid to Barcelona for Manchester United transfer target De Jong.

Manchester United and Barcelona have reached an agreement on the value of De Jong’s transfer but both clubs are yet to reach an agreement on the structure of the transfer.

According to transfer expert Gerard Romero, Manchester United’s last offer for Frenkie de Jong is €65million guaranteed plus €22million in add-ons.

Barcelona want €75million guaranteed from Manchester United plus €12million in add-ons.

Barcelona want a bulk of the transfer to be paid now so they can reinvest the funds into their squad this summer and Chelsea are willing to do just that.

With Manchester United delaying to seal the deal for De Jong, Chelsea have now moved to hijack the deal.

Chelsea are also offering Barcelona two players that the Spanish club are keen on signing this summer – Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

New Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is ready to back Thomas Tuchel in the transfer market and the Chelsea boss is now ready to hijack Manchester United’s deal for De Jong.

Chelsea appear confident they can sign De Jong as they will offer the midfielder the opportunity to play in the Champions League, something Manchester United cannot offer at this moment.

However, Manchester United are hoping the good relationship between De Jong and Erik ten Hag could still give the Red Devils the edge over Chelsea.
