
We are heading to a new season, and for Chelsea, it will be under a new owner.
American billionaire Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital led a consortium to buy over Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.
With the takeover completed in May, a lot has been expected of the new owners, as regards their vision and plan for the club.
Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is back to training with the rest of the team, and he has revealed that the Chelsea players are excited about the Todd Boehly era.
“It is a new era, so we all feel very excited and, whenever a new season comes around, you are excited about what’s possible,” Mount told the Evening Standard.
“I can’t wait to see what happens.”
He added: “We’ve had a break now but we’ll see and we hope it is going to be a good year.
Todd Boehly has however brought a change to the club’s leadership, with top executives Bruce Buck, Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech vacating their roles.
In a brief statement, Cech explained his decision to move on.
Cech said: “It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years.
“With the club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside.
“I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch.”
