Chelsea seem to be far behind in the race to make signings.
The Blues have been linked with a number of players, but no deal has been confirmed yet – much to the frustration of Chelsea fans.
Chelsea fans may also be wondering why new owner Todd Boehly took over from Marina Granovskaia as the club’s sporting director.
According to The Athletic, Todd Boehly ‘sidelined’ ex-Chelsea sporting director Marina Granovskaia as soon as he became the club’s owner.
Reports had claimed that Boehly may decide to work with Marina, but that wasn’t the case, after he took over.
Marina had been Roman Abramovich’s right-hand woman for over a decade, but Boehly felt the club needed to go in a different direction.
Boehly needed the club to make a shift in direction, and provided a ‘streamlined decision-making structure’ that is more aligned with the direction of the new ownership.
With Boehly and Marina having different views on Romelu Lukaku, it was clear that they wouldn’t work well together.
Thomas Tuchel is now said to be in direct contact with Boehly about the club’s summer transfer targets.
Reports claim Tuchel is more involved than almost any other manager was during Roman Abramovich’s 19 years as the club’s owner.
As per the delay in signings, the club had been behind in the transfer market already due to the sanctions and change in ownership.
