Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has sealed a loan move to Inter Milan, where he would stay until the end of next season.
After one season at Chelsea, Lukaku decided to leave the club and make a return to Inter Milan.
According to reports, Thomas Tuchel and Romelu Lukaku didn’t have the best of relationship over the course of last season.
A report by The Athletic, has claimed that some Chelsea players were as well put off by Lukaku’s attitude.
According to the report, many felt Lukaku gave off an unwarranted air of superiority and didn’t respect the achievements of his new team-mates who had just won the Champions League.
Lukaku’s attitude was said to have angered the rest of the Chelsea squad, who felt Lukaku thought he was ‘better’ than them.
Lukaku scored a meagre 8 goals in the Premier League last season, and has now gotten his way with a season-long loan deal to Inter Milan.
Former Argentina star Hernan Crespo has supported Romelu Lukaku’s decision to return to Inter Milan.
According to Crespo, Lukaku was treated as a king at Inter, but not so at Chelsea.
“Lukaku decided to return – at Inter he felt like a king, at Chelsea he didn’t,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“So it’s a matter of love and heart. And when it comes to the heart, it almost always ends well.
“I also decided to return to Italy because I felt comfortable in Serie A, less in the Premier League.
“I was already in love with Milan, with Italian football, with Serie A. And then, for a footballer, Milan is really the best, there is a unique passion there.
“After the season at Chelsea, Ancelotti wanted me to be at Milan: I hurried there.
“But at the end of the season, and saddened by the loss in the Champions League final in Istanbul, I returned to Chelsea.”
