Former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has landed in Milan ahead of his return to Inter Milan.

Lukaku who had a poor season with Chelsea showed his delight at sealing a move back to the San Siro.

Romelu Lukaku is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday morning before putting pen to paper on a one-year contract.

On Tuesday afternoon, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that Lukaku is due in Milan imminently to complete his move, telling reporters outside an Italian Football Federation meeting in Rome that Lukaku will arrive ‘this evening, I think.’

Having arrived Milan, Lukaku looked in great spirits when he arrived at the Milan airport at around 6.30am Italian time.

Lukaku was greeted by eager reporters who were already waiting for him as he made his way to his car. He briefly answered a few questions and posed for photos with a blue and black Inter scarf.

Asked for his thoughts on sealing a move back to the Nerazzurri after a frustrating year at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku smiled and told reporters: ‘I’m very happy to be back!’

The Belgium international will now undergo medical tests before Inter officially confirm the deal later in the day. Romelu Lukaku loan deal is expected to be confirmed in the next 12 hours.

Romelu Lukaku is believed to have taken a pay cut to make the loan deal happen.

Inter have agreed to cover the forward’s full salary and have paid a guaranteed loan fee of €8million (£6m), though various performance-related add-ons could take the package closer to £10m.

It seems to be a deal that Lukaku and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel wanted, as Lukaku no longer featured in the manager’s plans.

Reports have it that Thomas Tuchel isn’t looking for an out-and-out striker as a replacement for Lukaku, but rather a versatile forward who can play across the lines.
