Chelsea are strongly linked with a transfer deal for 22-year-old Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Chelsea are targeting a number of defenders as replacement for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, and De Ligt has come up among the names.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, has confirmed Chelsea’s interest in De Ligt.
According to the reporter, the Blues have offered Juventus around £25m plus Timo Werner for the Netherlands international – a proposal the Serie A side dismissed immediately.
Juventus have long been interested in Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, and transfer insider Dean Jones has urged Chelsea to add the Italy international in a swap deal for De Ligt.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “I think more than ever, we might see those player swaps coming into play, especially as Chelsea have so many players that they’re willing to push out.
“Obviously, so far, we’ve read about the possibility of Werner going in the other direction. I wouldn’t rule out Jorginho becoming part of that as well.”
However, Football Italia has claimed that Juventus are much more fond of Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic, and would prefer to have the American.
Chelsea signed Pulisic for a whopping £58m in 2019, and wouldn’t want to trade an expensive player in a swap deal for De Ligt.
Who do you think Chelsea should let go of in the race for De Ligt?
