Chelsea and Manchester City are believed to be in talks over a deal for Raheem Sterling.

The 27-year-old is set for a fresh challenge away from Manchester City, after 6 years at the Etihad Stadium.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has backed Chelsea to make the signing and has hailed the England international as a world-class signing.

“It’s a massive signing. He is a top-class player, a world-class player,” he told Sky Sports.

“He’s obviously someone that feels that it’s the right time to move on and I think for Chelsea, it would be a fantastic signing. He’s played incredibly well for Man City over the last couple of seasons.”

Raheem Sterling has just one year left on his current contract with Man City, and his heart is set for a fresh move to Stamford Bridge.

Talks between Chelsea and Raheem Sterling’s camp is believed to be in its final stages.

Chelsea are reportedly close to sealing a deal with Manchester City worth £35m for the England international.

Liverpool legend John Barnes believes it would be a good deal for Chelsea.

“It all depends on Raheem. If he feels, with the new signings, he’s not going to be a regular player, of course, he is a fantastic world-class player, so he deserves to be (playing on a regular basis),” Barnes said (via HITC).

“Maybe, if he feels at Chelsea, he would play more regularly, then it would be a great move for him, and it would be a great move for Chelsea as well if you think about the price they have to pay, the age of Raheem and the quality.

“It will be a fantastic signing for them, but Raheem will make that decision.”

Chelsea are close to sealing a deal for Raphinha, and Raheem Sterling is close to a Chelsea move as well.
