Chelsea have been linked with a move for Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.
It is believed that Sterling himself is interested in signing for Chelsea, as his place in Pep Guardiola’s squad next season is uncertain, following new additions to Man City’s attack.
Talks between Chelsea and Raheem Sterling’s camp is believed to be at an advanced stage.
Chelsea are reportedly close to sealing a deal with Manchester City worth £35m for the England international.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Manchester City’s full focus will now be on finding the right deal for Raheem Sterling as Chelsea prepare their bid.
Man City is believed to have nearly wrapped up a deal with Arsenal for Gabriel Jesus, and Romano has said that the club will focus on Chelsea’s bid for Sterling next.
Romano said: “Gabriel Jesus will fly to England this week in order to undergo medicals and sign the contract valid until June 2027 as new Arsenal player.
“Manchester City will now focus on Raheem Sterling deal after selling Jesus – with Chelsea preparing a new bid.”
Liverpool legend John Barnes, has said that the transfer would be a great move if Raheem Sterling joins Chelsea, adding that the England international is a fantastic player.
“It all depends on Raheem. If he feels, with the new signings, he’s not going to be a regular player, of course, he is a fantastic world-class player, so he deserves to be (playing on a regular basis),” Barnes said (via HITC).
“Maybe, if he feels at Chelsea, he would play more regularly, then it would be a great move for him, and it would be a great move for Chelsea as well if you think about the price they have to pay, the age of Raheem and the quality.
“It will be a fantastic signing for them, but Raheem will make that decision.”
