Tiemoue Bakayoko endured a torrid debut season at Stamford Bridge after signing from Monaco for £40million before joining AC Milan on loan during the summer.

His troubles had looked set to continue in Milan after a series poor performances at the beginning of the season, with several reports even suggesting the Rossoneri were considering cancelling his loan spell.

Bakayoko has turned things around lately with a series of impressive performances for AC Milan. The 24-year-old impressed against Parma on Sunday with Italian media outfit calciomercato.com describing Bakayoko as a ‘sumptuous master of the midfielder’ and ‘a player rediscovered’.

Bakayoko was named man-of-match against Parma, his third consecutive man-of-the-match award.

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso admits Bakayoko has surprised him with his recent performances.

Gattuso said: “At a tactical level, he’s surprising me, he strongly believed in what we showed him.

“With my assistant we said he reminds us of [Marcel] Desailly, even if maybe Bakayoko is even more technical.”

Early this season, Gattuso admitted Bakayoko was struggling at AC Milan.

“Bakayoko needs to be helped, as he is struggling,” said Gattuso.

“The tactics haven’t been drilled into his head yet and evidently it’s my fault, we need to do more work with him in training.

“He has been here for two months and we haven’t yet been able to get him to understand the movements.

“It is our duty to improve him as a player, because he does have a lot of quality and we’re not finding that yet.”
