It was payback time for England as the Three Lions defeated Croatia 2-1 at Wembley and secure a place in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

It was Croatia who defeated England in the World Cup semis during the summer, and Gareth Southgate’s side had their revenge on Sunday evening.

Ross Barkley featured in the game and had a good outing as he started as part of a three-man midfield, alongside Fabian Delph and Eric Dier.

Barkley was slick in midfield and made a number of good runs and the 24-year-old went close six minutes before the break when he volleyed into the side-netting after Croatia had struggled to deal with a Ben Chilwell cross.

England were the more dominant side in the first half, but the game took a turn in the second half as Croatia took the lead against the run of play just 12 minutes after the restart through Andrej Kramaric, who was afforded far too much room inside the penalty area and fired beyond Jordan Pickford via a deflection off Dier.

The goal sparked a number of substitutions and Barkley was eventually taken off for Dele Alli. Jesse Lingard who was among the subs scored the equaliser for England 13 minutes from time, and Harry Kane scored a dramatic late goal to ensure a 2-1 win for England.

Ruben Lotus-Cheek was an unused sub in the game, and Mateo Kovacic didn’t feature for Croatia as well.

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
