Chelsea are at risk of being handed a two-year transfer ban by FIFA for illegally signing 14 youth players, reports claim.

FIFA have been investigating Chelsea’s recruitment of underage minors since it was revealed that Burkina Faso striker Bertrand Traore was signed before his 18th birthday back in 2014.

According to The Times, a judgement from FIFA’s Integrity and Compliance has recommended that Chelsea should be banned for four transfer windows (that is two years) following 13 further offences.

There is an allegation against Chelsea that Traore played 25 matches for Chelsea at under-16 and under-18 level without being registered by the FA.

If found guilty of these charges, Chelsea could be banned for one transfer window for signing Traore illegally and as well as three further transfer windows for the additional players, plus a fine of £45,000.

Chelsea have however maintained that the club didn’t do any wrong and they did not break any rules by telling Press Association Sport: “The club has fully cooperated with FIFA and has provided comprehensive evidence demonstrating its compliance with the applicable FIFA regulations.

“We will not comment further on speculation concerning confidential contracts or player related matters.”

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have recently faced FIFA bans on transfer in recent years, and Liverpool has also been banned from signing Academy players from other English clubs last year after an illegal approach to a 12-year-old Stoke City player.

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
