Chelsea will welcome Frank Lampard’s Derby County team to Stamford Bridge this evening.
Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in the previous round of the Carabao Cup while Derby County dumped Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
Sarri is expected to make changes to the team while also fielding a team that is strong enough to beat Derby County.
The Blues are expected to play in the 4-3-3 formation and here is the predicted lineup for the game against Derby County
GK: Willy Caballero
The Argentine goalkeeper is expected to start against Derby County today. He played in the last round against Liverpool at Anfield.
CB: Andreas Christensen
The Danish defender is expected to play against Derby County. He has started every Europa League game this season and the 3rd round victory over Liverpool at Anfield.
CB: Gary Cahill
Gary Cahill is expected to start against Derby County. He is yet to start a Premier League game this season with Sarri preferring Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz but he has started all of Chelsea’s Europa League games this season.
RB: Davide Zappacosta
The Italian is expected to start against Derby with Cesar Azpilicueta preferred in Premier League games.
Emerson started against Liverpool in the previous round and I was impressed with his performance in Chelsea’s 3-1 Europa League victory over BATE. He’s comfortable with the ball and suits Sarri’s style of play.
CDM: Cesc Fabregas
Jorginho has been brilliant in this role for Chelsea this season and Cesc Fabregas is the perfect player to play this role when Jorginho isn’t playing.
LCM: Mateo Kovacic
The Croatian international was as unused substitute in Chelsea’s 4-0 win at Burnley on Sunday and he is expected to start against Derby County today.
RCM: Ruben Loftus-Cheek
The 22-year-old midfielder has scored four goals in his last two games for Chelsea and he is expected to play from the start against Derby County.
RF: Victor Moses
Moses’ last start for Chelsea was the 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Liverpool. The Nigerian is expected to return to the starting lineup today.
LF: Willian/Callum Hudson-Odoi
Pedro is a doubt for this game after his first-half substitution in the win at Burnley over the weekend due to a very strong stomach ache. This is definitely the kind of match to unleash Callum Hudson-Odoi from the start and rest Willian.
CF: Olivier Giroud
Olivier Giroud is expected to start. He was lively when he came on for Alvaro Morata in the 4-0 win over Burnley over the weekend and this could be the game in which he scores his first Chelsea goal of the season.
