Ross Barkley was the hero for Chelsea as the Blues scored late in the game as Manchester United played out a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were leading 1-0 at half-time after Antonio Rudiger scored a powerful header, but Anthony Martial scored a brace in the second-half to stun Chelsea.
Ross Barkley was introduced after Martial’s goal, and he came on with instructions from the manager. Barkley was at hand to score a last-gasp goal in the 96 minutes of the game to snatch a point in the game.
Barkley has revealed that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri told him to try and get a goal for his team as he was introduced late in the game.
“My confidence has grown but our target was to win the game so it is disappointing. We showed great attitude at the end.
”The manager told me to help the team win the game and try and get a result. We conceded a goal that we should have stopped but we came back.”
Barkley has now scored two goals in the last two games for Chelsea, and two caps for England in the last two weeks. Barkley has revealed he is only too happy to contribute to the team’s progress.
“I’m building momentum and improving game-by-game. I’ve been working hard in training and the performances are coming on gameday. I’m happy with scoring today but we came here to get the three points and we didn’t, so that’s disappointing.”
