The 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or was released earlier this week, and two Chelsea stars made the cut – Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante.
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba also made the cut, but he has admitted that there are better candidates than him to win the award for this year.
Pogba even admitted that kante is more deserving of the award than him.
Pogba and Kante formed a good partnership in central midfield as France went on to win the World Cup in Russia during the summer, and Pogba is hoping he can win the award.
“It’s all I hope for whatever happens, because there are a lot of them who deserve it,” Pogba told AFP.
“I’m not going to get into it, whether it’s [Antoine] Griezmann, Kylian [Mbappe] or Raphael [Varane] who deserve it much more than me.
“I can’t pick one of them, but I sincerely hope it’ll be one of those three, or even four because there’s also NG ([N’Golo Kante].”
Kante was crucial to France’s World Cup heroics, and he has been a key player for Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri this season. But can he really win the Ballon d’Or?
