There was a nervy end to Chelsea’s game against PAOK Salonika, in what should have been an easy victory for the Blues.

An early goal from Willian gave Chelsea the lead, but the scoreline should have been heavier, if not for wasteful misses.

See the player ratings below:

Kepa: Barely had any save to make in the game, but did well with his ball distribution from the back. 6/10

Rudiger: A robust defensive game from the rugged centre half. Was bullish at the back and good on the ball as well.  His pass from deep started the move for Willian’s goal. 7.5/10

Christensen: Kept it nice and easy at the back. Passed the ball pretty well and had a good understanding with Rudiger. 7/10

Alonso: The Spaniard is flowing really well in Sarri-ball, and had a good game. Should have gotten on the scoresheet. 7/10

Zappacosta: His first start of the season wasn’t spectacular, but he didn’t do bad either. 6/10

Jorginho: Controlled the game very well especially in the first half and ensured Chelsea had over 70% possession in the first period. Was taken off in the second half ahead of West Ham clash this weekend. His one time touch for Barkley led to Chelsea’s only goal. 7.5/10

Kante: Worked hard and also did well when with the ball. Was good in some counterattacking situations. 7/10

Barkley: Made a good assist for Willian’s goal. Had a good first half and some brilliant moments in the game, but he fizzled out towards the end of the game. 7/10

Willian: Had a brilliant game especially in the first half and should have scored more than just a goal but for some wasteful finishing. 7.5/10

Pedro: Was energetic and full of running. Missed some good chances but he was brilliant. Hopefully, his injury wasn’t anything serious. 7.5/10

Morata: Missed a couple of chances in the first half but was very poor in the second half before rightfully being taken off for Giroud. 4/10

Subs

Fabregas: Had a decent game but couldn’t control the tempo of the game like Jorginho. 6/10

Azpilicueta: Brought in for Alonso, and he slotted in seamlessly. 6/10

Giroud: Brought in for Morata, and showed his importance to the team. Held up play better, worked hard and was a better target man for the Blues. 6/10

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
