Eden Hazard’s contract situation has been one of the negatives from the just concluded season. The Belgian refusing to put pen to paper just yet has sent anxiety and fear through the spines of a lot of Chelsea fans, and his match winning performance against Manchester United on Saturday would have even increased the anxiety level. However, I do not think we will be losing our talented playmaker just yet following recent comments.
Players only leave their clubs for a number of reasons; for smaller players, it’s mostly due to playing time, but for bigger players, it’s mostly because they need to win trophies or stay away from a toxic manager. Some even move for the money, but Hazard has seemed to be unmoved by that. Instead, he just wants to grow with the one club where he feels loved.
If Hazard wanted money, he would have long moved to PSG or Real Madrid. I think he’s looking to grow with Chelsea like Lampard and Terry did. He seems to have found a home in England, and he’s loving it.
In a recent interview, he’s quoted as saying he only wants the club to recruit top players, and he’ll stay. A player who doesn’t want to stay wouldn’t even mention that. Hazard loves Chelsea, he wants to stay, and the onus is on the board to meet his demand. They must go into the transfer market, buy quality players, and help us keep our star man.
Hazard is a competitive player and is among the best in the world; he wants people that will help him reach his best. As it stands, he has done most of the work, he needs some support, and it must happen soon.
