The expectation from Chelsea fans as we took on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday was a win. Instead of one, we were beaten 2-1 by the Red Devils. It was a disappointing outcome, especially seeing how we started off the game, but we have to stay positive.

Willian gave us the lead before the 40th minute, and it looked like we would take another scalp from Man United, but we were pegged back right before half time. A tactical change in the 2nd half saw the home side take the lead, and despite our fight back to get on level terms, they held on for the win.

United are now 6 points ahead of us with 59 points. Liverpool are 3rd with 57 points, and Tottenham are 4th with 55 points. That leaves us out of the top 4 at 5th with 53 points.

It looks sad in plain sight, but we still have a strong chance of getting back in the top four to guarantee a place in Europe’s premier football competition (The UCL) next season. We just have to keep working hard and improve to win our other high-profile games in the league.

Manchester City is next, if we can get something from that fixture, even a draw, it would be fair for us. The teams currently in the top 4 have themselves and we still have Spurs and Liverpool to play still, so it’s safe to say that we have our destiny in our hands.

The lads must not allow this loss dampen their spirit, but must keep going until the end. We dominated the game very well in the first half, and could have easily won if we scored more and stayed more composed at the back. Still it’s not an ultimately destructive result. We will keep going. We are Chelsea after all.
