The Chelsea youngsters continued their development on loan, and for Tammy Abraham in the Premier League, he played up front for Swansea who were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City. Kurt Zouma was in the Stoke defence lineup as the Potters lost by the same scoreline to Bournemouth.

Izzy Brown came off the bench for Brighton on Friday night fixture, with the Seagulls recording an impressive 3-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium. Ruben Loftus-Cheek also came on as a substitute for Crystal Palace in a game they lost 1-0 to Newcastle at St James’ Park.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, Marco van Ginkel scored a brace as PSV Eindhoven won 3-0 against Heracles to maintain their five-point lead over Ajax at the top of the table. Van Ginkel took his tally to the season to six via those goals.

Still in the Dutch League, Fankaty Dabo and Matt Miazga were in defence for Vitesse in Sunday’s Eredivisie trip to Heerenveen, which ended in a 4-0 win in favour of Vitesse. The result moved them up to third spot, a point behind Ajax. Dabo provided the assist for Vitesse’s second goal and another Chelsea youngster Mason Mount came on as a second-half substitute.

In the Turkish League, Kenneth Omeruo played in a 2-1 defeat for Kasimpasa against Antalyaspor on Friday night. In Belgium, Victorien Angban’s Waasland Beveren’s ran out 5-2 winners against Zulte Waregem. The Chelsea man played for 70 minutes.

Back to England and in the Championship, Ola Aina and Michael Hector came up against Ike Ugbo when Hull City visited Barnsley, and it was the defensive duo who were celebrating after Hull won 1-0.

Jeremie Boga came on as a late sub for Birmingham against Millwall, but could not help the Midlands side recover as they lost 2-0.

Third-place Sheffield United’s good season continued with a 2-1 win over Reading, with Jamal Blackman once again in goal for the Blades. Tomas Kalas played at the back for Fulham against Aston Villa, with John Terry scoring his first goal for the Villans in a 2-1 win.
