Chelsea play host to Manchester United this weekend at Stamford Bridge as the Premier League resumes on Saturday after a fortnight break due to the international break, and United boss Jose Mourinho will have to make do without Marouane Fellaini.

Fellaini has been an important player for Mourinho this season and United are sweating his unavailability ahead of their visit to Stamford Bridge after he limped out of a training session.

Fellaini had reported back from international duty with Belgium feeling ill, but insisted on taking part in the afternoon session to get ready for Chelsea clash.

Fellaini missed Belgium’s game against Holland on Tuesday because he wasn’t 100 per cent fit but Belgium boss Roberto Martinez expects him to be fine for the game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Martinez told Sky Sports: “He should be fine, it’s just he wasn’t 100 per cent.

“He’s got an important game at the weekend and this wasn’t the game to use players who weren’t 100 per cent.

“We expect he should be fine in the next couple of days.”

However, Fellaini is now expected to miss the game after his training session on Wednesday afternoon ended prematurely, forcing him to hobble off the pitch with an ankle problem.

Fellaini has been an important player for Manchester United under Jose Mourinho, with the midfielder featuring in each of the 11 games United have played in all competitions so far this season.
