Chelsea finished fifth last season and the Blues were 30 points off champions Manchester City.

However, Maurizio Sarri has got Chelsea playing differently, and the Blues are in the title race.

Heading into the international break, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are all level on points and the title race seems to be intense at the moment.

A lot has been said about Chelsea’s title credential, and many seem to be writing off Chelsea, especially as the club are without a proven goalscorer.

Graeme Souness has recently warned Chelsea that they must get a quality striker if they want to beat Liverpool and City to the title. Chelsea’s strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have only scored twice this season, with the bulk of the goals coming from Eden Hazard, and Souness believes Chelsea will be better off with a goal-getter.

“I maintain that Chelsea, if they had an out-and-out ‘goal-getter’ they could join these two [Liverpool and City,” Souness told Sky Sports.

“Without Hazard they don’t have as much threat. Both of these two have more players that can threaten.

“It will be between one of Liverpool and City. Don’t write Chelsea out but they need a real ‘goal-getter’.

“If anything happened to Hazard they’d be in trouble. I like their football but I’ve got a slight doubt about them.”

However, Chelsea great Michael Essien has revealed that Chelsea are having a good season and can end up as champions.

“It’s been good. They have had a very good start,” he said. “They are playing very good football at the moment and winning games.

“Fingers crossed they can will continue this until the end. They can win it [the title].

“The Premier League is there to be won so fingers crossed.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
