The league’s top monthly honour has returned for September, and as expected, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is leading the nomination list.

Hazard has been nominated for the award with Willy Boly of Wolverhampton, Alexander Lacazette of Arsenal, Gyfli Sigurdson fo Everton, Raheem Sterling of Manchester City and James Maddison of Leicester City for this month’s ‘Player of the Month’ award.

Obviously, they have all given their absolute best for their various teams in the month under review, hence they’ve been nominated, but it is worth mentioning that one player has overwhelmingly been miles ahead of everyone else in the league, not just in September, but in the entire season. And it’s little wonder he has again drawn comparisons with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. We’re not going into that argument now, but the truth is Hazard is the clear winner of the award for September. So clear has his superiority been this season.

Hazard currently leads the scorers chart with 7 goals out of 8 games, and boasts a few assists while at it too. Apart from the goals and assists, the man is also clearly ahead with dribbles and overall play. And I know that even if Chelsea fans didn’t have to participate in the voting process, he should still emerge winner.

Last month, Alonso deserved the award, but somehow, lost it to Lucas Moura of Tottenham, despite putting up just two good performances, and Alonso being on fire for most of August. But we hope for a different and more favorable outcome this month because Eden Hazard has by a mile deserved the award from the second week of September.

And to be honest, as much as I hope he gets it, my greatest joy would be him finishing the season strongly, and winning ‘Player of the Year’ again, and the FIFA equivalent. The man has worked so hard for it, and it looks like this will be his season. Our hope as fans is that his dreams come to be.
