Alvaro Morata lasted 81 minutes on the pitch in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over PAOk at the Toumba Stadium.
It was a frustrating night for the Spaniard who missed a number of chances to have gotten on the scoresheet.
Morata attempted seven shots in the game but none of his efforts was on target which summed up a frustrating evening for the 25-year-old who has scored only once this season.
Morata was visibly frustrated when he was taken off for Giroud with about ten minutes left of play, and he shrugged off Maurizio Sarri who tried to congratulate him after his substitution.
Speaking after the game, Sarri revealed that the only thing Morata needs is confidence and he will try to help the Spaniard hit top form again.
“Alvaro has to gain confidence with one, two three goals,” Sarri said. “I am not able to give him confidence.
“In this match he had three or four opportunities. He was unlucky.
“I hope for him in the future I can help him. But the confidence can come with goals. Maybe two goals in two matches, I don’t know.
“For the first time in this season he was ready in the box. He was on the ball and was active.”
