Its jingles, sound bites and cheers once again as Premier League action takes centre stage. The battle for both dominance and survival has begun, and certainly all teams will be gearing up for the challenges. For Chelsea, Premier League winners twice in the last four seasons will be looking to take back the crown come May. This time we start with David Wagner’s Huddersfield side that confirmed their survival at Chelsea’s expense in May. They pulled a stunt last season by snatching a draw at Stamford Bridge that killed our slim hopes of Champions League football. Is Chelsea ready to sail this season?

Here are 3 questions that need answers from the Chelsea team:

WILL CHELSEA WIN THE LEAGUE AGAIN?

Another managerial change has lightened up the mood around Stamford Bridge after last season’s unsavory ambience created by Antonio Conte’s incessant mood swings that derailed Chelsea’s ambitions both on and off field. The new logic now is that Chelsea is now a mixed bag of success and failure. The team often tends to win the league after a disappointing previous season.

After finishing third in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge on his second return (just to recall that we blew our title chance that season despite being top as at March), we then won the league the following season. In his third season, we fell from grace to grass after experiencing a catastrophic “Mourinho season” which saw the Portuguese coach sacked and Chelsea finished 10th in the league. Conte’s arrival in 2016/17 season saw us win another league title, but the next season was another disappointing tale. Now it’s Maurizio Sarri’s time. Will the players show commitment and hunger to win the league again? Probably a glimpse of their desire to be Champions of England once again will be on display against Huddersfield Town.

WILL SARRI BREAK HIS TROPHY-BARREN MANAGERIAL CAREER AT CHELSEA?

The blot on new Chelsea Head Coach, Maurizo Sarri’s managerial career is the fact that he is yet to win a trophy. Chelsea surely presents him with an opportunity to change his fortunes as he embarks on another managerial challenge. The Italian is famed for his beautiful style of play called Sarri-ball, and will be expected to drill and make Chelsea an entertaining side. He is the first coach to be appointed by Chelsea based on ideas than on trophies won. But he will certainly be expected to win things in a beautiful way.

WHICH NEW SIGNING WILL MAKE THE HEADLINES FOE CHELSEA THIS SEASON?

As a Blues supporter, I would want all our new signings to do very well this season. Last season was one to forget as virtually all our then new signings failed to deliver. Alvaro Morata’s goal-scoring struggle was sickening, Tiemoue Bakayoko’s poor form was disastrous, Drinkwater’s struggle with form and fitness was at worse still, Davide Zappacosta and Emerson Palmieri were average. So Chelsea was bound to “suffer” with those issues. But there is optimism this season as many fans feel this has been our best transfer window in a long while. The arrival of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic will surely boost Chelsea’s midfield, and Kepa Arrizabalaga’s place in goal for the departed and somehow inconsistent Thibaut Courtois gives Chelsea a goalkeeper dubbed as a star of the future. Not forgetting the return of Ruben Loftus-Cheek who gives the feeling of being a new signing and also the emerging star in the making, Callum Hudson-Odoi who is bound to thrill us this season. Will they all give their best for the club? If they do, we can be rest assured that this season will turn out better for Chelsea.

Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
