Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed the players knew of the board’s decision to sack Antonio Conte this summer.
Conte was sacked on Friday after disagreements with the board over transfers and the clubs fifth-placed league finish last season.
“It’s hard to talk about it because I don’t know exactly what happened,” Courtois said.
“But the decision that was made a few days ago, I think as a group we expected that to happen a long time ago because we heard what the board said to us after the season ended and then it takes until now.”
Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri has been appointed as Chelsea’s new boss.
