As reported yesterday, Chelsea Football Club sacked Antonio Conte on Thursday just after two years in charge of the West London club.
The 48-year-old took training on Thursday, but was told before he left at 3pm his services were no longer required. With Maurizio Sarri expected to be named as Chelsea manager any moment from now, Conte was eventually relieved of his duties.
Chelsea refused to release a statement yesterday, but the club have now officially confirmed the sacking of Conte through a statement released via the club’s official website.
The statement read: “Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company.
“During Antonio’s time at the club, we won our sixth league title and eighth FA Cup. In the title-winning season, the club set a then-record 30 wins in a 38-game Premier League season, as well as a club-record 13 consecutive league victories.
“We wish Antonio every success in his future career.”
