It is often said that time is the wisest counsellor of all. It is either it is gained or wasted. But certainly, wasted time is always regretted. That’s the case with the new Chelsea. The issue with the new Chelsea is that the club spends so much time in making decisions on serious issues, but only end up paying so much for them.

Let’s take a review of our transfer businesses in the last few years. We’ve ended up signing most players on transfer deadline days only to realise we wasted money on average signings that can barely make a difference.

Badly enough, our scouting network is becoming questionable. Gone are those days when we buy players that are destined for the top. Our scouting network that helped sign the likes of Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois and even Mo’ Salah. Now, we are left to feed on the scraps of the transfer window.

Heartbreaking is the fact that we have followed success with failure in recent seasons. Part of this is down to lack of a clear plan for the club. Roman’s new system of running Chelsea to be self-sufficient is laudable, but in reality it is leaving us behind our major rivals. At the moment we are playing catch up. Obviously the academy seems another drama plot as it doesn’t seem any manager can seamlessly nurture young talents into first team regulars. Why? Because of the high demand for success.

At the moment, many things are really unresolved. No director of football, no managerial clarity, no signings, no belief in Chelsea’s youth system. Things just really have to change or else, the club will pay so much for the much damage that will happen at the club in the near future.

Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
