The 2018 World Cup is here and the excitement is fever pitch. The countdown has ended and Russia 2018 is upon us.

For Chelsea star and Belgium captain Eden Hazard, he is excited about the tournament and is looking forward to having a good tournament with Belgium who are considered as dark horses of the tournament despite an array of stars.

In an interview with the official Chelsea website, the Blues star man couldn’t hide his excitement as he said: “I want to be there, I want to be in Russia and I’m ready for this World Cup.

“We have good players in our squad and I hope for something big with Belgium this summer. We are all a little older, most of us are around 25 or 26 now and we all feel ready for this. The timing feels right. We want to play together and try to win something.

“I think we have been playing together as a group for five or six years now, so we all feel ready for this tournament and we have progressed together as a team.

“There are many Chelsea players in the team, which is nice to have Thibaut and Michy with me, but we know all our other team-mates very well by now and like I said, we are all just excited and ready to start the tournament now.

“Over the past 10 years I think Belgium have been playing well and we are improving all the time. We got to the quarter-finals in Brazil in 2014, the quarter-finals again at Euro 2016 and we topped our qualifying group ahead of Russia this summer.

“Before that, it wasn’t always great for Belgian football but we have had good teams in the past. We feel we have that again now and we want to do our best at the World Cup this summer. We want to win something, which would be great to say we’ve done it.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
