IS IT TIME FOR CONTE TO GO?

Antonio Conte did phenomenally well last season, and for that, he’ll be remembered at Chelsea for a long time to come, but like his predecessors, I think it is time for him to take a bow, and exit the stage for another manager to show their stuff.

He has more than underwhelmed this season. In fact, there’s no way to describe his performance without berating him because Chelsea shouldn’t where they are right now for any reason. I mean, we won the league title last season; and now, we can’t even compete in Europe’s biggest stage!

It has become a house style for us to hire and fire managers year after year, but then again, football is result-oriented, and if we have to lose a manager every year to get proper and befitting results, so be it.

It has been a complete pain watching Chelsea struggle the way we have this season. I don’t think we can stand another season of struggle. Antonio Conte isn’t a bad manager, but for some reason, he has done a terrible job of managing Chelsea. He seems to me the type of manager that puts his emotions before the job, and that is part of the reasons we have suffered. David Luiz’s rot on the bench, and Diego Costa’s exit prove that. We do not need that kind of manager; we need someone who is all about making the club succeed, even if it means suffering emotionally for that purpose.

I watched on with disappointment as we struggled again against relegation-threatened Huddersfield on Wednesday and the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle followed, and only one thing came to my mind; “this is not my Chelsea.”

This club is known to fight when it matters most. Our attack has never been this toothless and useless at the same time. And I don’t say these things because we’ve missed out on the UEFA Champions League next season, I say it because this just isn’t the Chelsea I grew to love, even before the Roman Abramovich era – the spirit of yester years can’t be found.

Something has to change, and how I see it, it’s not particularly the players; the coach needs to be replaced as Conte seems to have run out of ideas and motivation. The board also has its share of the blame and there has to be some changes up there, and unless this happens, I don’t see the team improving next season.

There needs to be some fresh air at the club. There has to be a managerial change, someone with a different approach, and one that actually works and that can impose a big team mentality on the players with both mentally and tactically.

Conte has been clueless for months, that is unlikely to change, and some of his recent comments haven’t helped matters either. Getting a manager to replace him may be hard considering the shortage of top ones at the moment, but I want to think that any of the managers we are being linked with would be better than Conte right now.

We need a change now, or we just risk these problems next season.

What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
