Our biggest game of the season yet will come against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge this weekend. It is our biggest, not just because we’re squaring off against a big rival, but especially because of what is at stake.

However you look at it, we have so far, had a season to forget. Failing to defend our league title, or at least, put up a good fight trying to do so is the most embarrassing thing I know about us since Mourinho’s infamous “11 mistakes” outburst.

We’re currently struggling to qualify for next season’s Champions League, having fallen far behind in the race, but there yet may be hope for us if things go as expected in this weekend’s fixture.

Liverpool have never particularly been a cake walk for us, so it’s hard to imagine we’d get one over them when we meet, but I have a feeling we will.

As we square up against the Reds, our biggest motivation will be the hunger get into Europe’s most talked about competition next season.

We currently lie in fifth, six points behind third placed Liverpool, and five behind fourth placed Tottenham. What this really means is if we can beat Liverpool at the weekend, the deficit will reduce to just three points. With just a few games to go, it’s hard to see any team slipping, but then, football is unpredictable. I see a lot of our lads looking at this as a huge motivation to play and win Liverpool.

The other huge factor playing to our advantage is the fact that the game will happen at our home stadium, Stamford Bridge. With the massive support of the Crowd, and friendliness in the atmosphere, there’ll be plenty hunger to at least get a win.

Like I said, it will not be easy, but then, we have so much to play for, and I expect us to emerge victorious from the game at the end of the day.
