Chelsea recorded a 2-0 win over Southampton at Wembley in FA Cup semifinals in the second game in two weeks against Southampton. A perfect game that booked our ticket to the final against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

Here are 3 positives from the game:

GIROUD & MORATA BOTH SCORE IN BIG WIN FOR CHELSEA:

The game against Southampton a week ago saw the different shades of Chelsea striking force. While Giroud came on and made the difference in the game, Morata sulked and was largely anonymous. Fast forward to the midweek game against Burnley in which both strikers were paired as a front two, the theme was the same. Morata was a miss and Giroud a hit. Rightly Conte deployed them again with Giroud starting before being replaced by Morata and both strikers scored to send Chelsea to the finals.

CHELSEA WIN TO KEEP SILVERWARE HOPES ALIVE:

Chelsea have been largely inconsistent with varying issues the reason for being deposed Champions and likely to miss out on Champions League football for next season. But a spirited display against Southampton at Wembley will surely raise the hopes of fans as winning the FA Cup will compensate for a season in which we’ve been so anonymous.

CONTE STILL THE MAN TO LEAD CHELSEA:

Whether or not Conte wins silverware this season, the Italian despite being culpable for Chelsea inconsistent season, has done relatively well to lead Chelsea to another cup final in two seasons at the club. The onus will be on him to go one better than last season by winning the cup at the second time of asking. The Italian got his tactics right against the Saints which was the tonic for Chelsea’s victory and passage to the finals.

Let’s keep the blue flag flying high. Cheers!
