Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso could be banned for this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Southampton.

The Spaniard made a reckless a tackle on Saints striker Shane Long towards the end of the first half of his team’s 3-2 win on Saturday.

Alonso could easily have been red carded for the tackle, but it was unspotted by referee Mike Dean.

Alonso could face retrospective action if Dean claims he did not fully see the incident in his match report which will be sent to the FA.

According to the Daily Mail, FA Chiefs are still investigating the challenge and are reviewing footage of the incident.

Alonso could be charged with violent conduct and thus handed with a three match ban which would make him to miss Sunday’s clash.
